JD
Such a young soul in a hard world but doing well; I knew you would.
I hope you can forgive me and know I did the best I could.
I never wanted to leave early but I can still watch over you.
Helped guide you to some others who will help to see you through.
A hero you'll look up to but you'll remind him of his own.
A son he lost; but, through you, see that memory full grown.
A brother you can learn from, who'll tease you like he should
But who'll watch you and direct you and protect you like I would.
A friend versed in survival and of living off the land
He'll offer you his knowledge and he'll offer you his hand.
I've sent to you a Preacher to aid you when you're weak
Learn from him the times you should or shouldn't turn a cheek.
To help you to remember what makes a man stand tall
Listen, watch and school from the one who heals them all.
And while I love your innocence, I'll not let it bring you harm
Give some boyhood to that gambler and take from him some charm.
You must know that I love you, my angel makes me proud.
And to give to you this fam'ly, the Lord God has allowed.
To finish what I started I brought you to these men
And I've mad sure a part of me is in every one of them.
